    Real Estate Chapter

    Real Estate Professionals’ Chapter

The Real Estate Professionals’ Chapter was launched on 4 March 2013 at a simple ceremony officiated by Guest-of-Honour, Minister Lim Swee Say, Secretary-General, NTUC. The event was attended by over 160 real estate professionals and industry partners from the Council of Estate Agencies (CEA), Associations and Training Providers.

Through the formation of the chapter, SISEU strives to intensify our collaborations with the industry and partners to bring forth more value to our members, provide more opportunities for professional development, and expand the network of our real estate members through various events and initiatives.

The Singapore Estate Agents Association (SEAA) was formed to represent the Estate Agencies and Salespersons in Singapore. With the support from Council for Estate Agencies (CEA) and the major Estate Agencies, SEAA aims to be a cohesively strong voice for real estate agencies and salespersons and to advocate and further their common interests.

Driven to promulgate and maintain the high standards of the real estate agency profession, SEAA ensures that the industry remains relevant and sustainable by promoting continuous learning, upgrading, ethical standards and professional development amongst its members.

The Association was registered with the Registry of Society on 5 November 2015 and gazetted on 12 November 2015. SAEA Ltd , one of the key industry bodies transferred its operations including members, CPD activities, RES course, other courses as well as secretariat staff to this new Association which became fully operational on 10 February 2016.

    Their History

In April 2014, 24 founding members* comprising Key Executive Officers of  large, medium and boutique-sized Estate Agencies, International Property Consultancies as well as SAEA and IEA came together to form the Main Committee for the proposed Association representing Singapore estate agencies and salespersons.

The Committee held the belief  that it was  timely to have a strong representation which would  collectively work together with the authorities to promote the professional interests of Estate Agencies and Salespersons and gain more benefits for them through economies of scale.

Having one body with strong support is critical because it also projects a professional image of the real estate industry to the public. A Central Committee (current EXCO Steering Committee) was subsequently formed from the Main Committee to chart direction and work on the formation of the Association.

IEA is the national real estate organization which was formed in 1998 through the merger of 3 real estate bodies, namely the Association of Singapore Realtors (ASR), the Association of Singapore Real Estate Agents (ASREA) and the Society of Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers Accredited Estate Agents (SOCREA).

The mission of IEA is to represent the real estate profession. Its aim is to be the voice of the real estate agents, and also, to be their professional platform. Its object is to promote and advance the interest of its members as well as to protect the interest of the public in the engagement of members for real estate services.

Since its formation, IEA has conducted real estate certification programmes for its members; such as Certified Estate Agents (CEA) Course, the National Skills Recognition System (NSRS) Training & Evaluation, Common Examination for House Agents (CEHA), Pre-CEHA Courses, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Courses. These training courses have enabled its members to be kept abreast of estate agency practices, code of conduct and ethics as well as current property rules, regulations and government policies.
