Some 11 SMEs have collected over 350 care packs for migrant workers as part of this year’s May Day celebration.
The Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC), in collaboration with NTUC U SME, distributed the care packs during a meet and greet session with the receiving companies on 6 May 2022.
A further 28 companies have also expressed their interest to collect some 1,640 care packs.
MWC and NTUC U SME project to distribute over 3,000 care packs to NTUC U SME partners before the end of June 2022.
The care packs contain key essential items such as masks (reusable and disposable) and hand sanitisers. They will also hold other commonly used items like toothbrush, toothpaste, soft drinks, biscuits, vitamins and MWC arm sleeves.
NTUC U SME and U Women and Family Director Yeo Wan Ling hopes that care packs will bring cheer and comfort to the migrant workers receiving them.
She said: “Our migrant workers have been working through these tough times, tirelessly ensuring that Singapore's infrastructure and buildings continue to be maintained, expanded, and restored even in the face of a global pandemic.
“Our migrant brothers deserve our appreciation, and the labour movement will ensure that migrant workers are treated fairly, and their wellbeing protected.”
The care packs are currently available to all NTUC U SME partners’ migrant workforce. Partners who wish to collect the care packs for their workforce can reach out to NTUC U SME.
